Now that Chap has saved the day, let me update you a little bit on this fellow... (note... the trumpet is upside down) :)
I'm not really sure where I left off the last time I updated on him, so I'll re-cap a little. Last fall, his developmental pediatrician ordered an MRI of the brain. During that MRI, a little syrinx (fluid-filled cyst) on the upper portion of the spinal column was seen. Therefore, a spinal MRI was ordered. We visited a neurosurgeon about the MRI - and he didn't feel it was causing any harm, but he wanted to check it in 3 months to make sure the cyst stays stable and doesn't grow. We just had that 3rd MRI on Tuesday and had an immediate appointment with the neurosurgeon for the reading. All still looks good! The cyst hasn't changed... no smaller, no bigger. If it were to be drained, the tubing is barely bigger than the fluid-filled cyst, so more harm would be done doing that, rather than leave it alone. So, that is what we will do... leave it alone. It isn't causing any harm being there - thank goodness!
He has hit a few bumps on the road the last few months, but he is still developing and has recovered from a few of the bumps. We are also in the process of changing to a new insurance and his OT and PT are not in the new company's network. So, we will probably give him an OT and a PT break for the next few months and through the summer. He will begin The Rise School next August for PK, and will receive OT, PT, and Speech (along with Language and Music Therapy) as part of the curriculum and daily schedules of Rise. I also have a friend at our church that is helping out with a few of his speech/fluency issues.
He is such a fun and awesome kid! He keeps me on my toes, and I love him to pieces! All three of them!
