Dewberry Farm Fun

Well, this week is not one I would like to repeat... except for the end result that we did today!

Last weekend, we went to visit my parents - who also had my niece and nephews. We took all of the kiddos to play at a park Friday evening, and Maggie proceeded to hurt her foot! She could not put weight on it for most of Saturday, but even then it was with a pronounced limp. That made for an interesting cheer camp on Friday at my brother's school - but she and my niece had a great time, afterall. She also got an "excuse note" for school... which she was secretly excited about. She is doing much better, now - although we did miss gymnastics this week.

Then, on Wednesday - while at a meeting at work, I started having horrible pain! Turns out, I ended up in the ER with a kidney stone... My sister-in-law, Amy picked up the kids from school and kept them for the evening. My mom came over to help out that evening and Thursday! And, I had lots of friends and family praying... thankfully I passed it rather quickly!

So, to top off an off-kilter week, the kids and I went to Dewberry Farm today. I had heard lots of good things about it, so we went to check it out for ourselves! Turns out.... the rave reviews are correct. It was gorgeous weather, and we had a great time! Here are some pictures of the fun times...

Pony rides were a fun first...

We ran into a friend of mine with her husband and two small children. They were surprised that I had ventured out with all three kiddos there by myself. This wasn't my first lone venture, although it was my first here. I do get a little concerned about Whit, but with the amount of tractors and wheels that were around - we did pretty good! I think tractors are a sedative for him somehow! We did lose him (for a small moment, but seems like a long time when you're in that moment). After we finished lunch, I told them... "Follow me to the trash, then to put the trays up, and then to the stroller." So, after the first step... I did my duckling check, and counted three heads. I put the trays up in the next area, did my duckling check - and counted TWO heads! Slight heart drop... Whit... where's Whit? Maggie... do you see Whit? Chap, do you see Whit? Where is he? WHIT?? WHIT?? After looking around and not finding him, we went to the stroller - and there he was! Sitting in the stroller! (He'd missed step two!, but at least he was there!) The best thing about having someone else with me in these instances (besides having extra eyes on Whit) - is having an extra hand in helping me get all three to smile at me for kodak (or Canon) moments!! I usually have the hardest time getting Whit to 'pose'... Such as this...

But, I did get some of him...

Here are a few more group pics...

Whit wasn't very fond of the hay touching his legs! :)

Maggie and Chap had some fun, too. Chap loved testing his strength by picking up some big pumpkins! Maggie enjoyed all of the activities...

All in all - I think we'll do it again next year!

  1. Looks like so much fun. Please call me anytime you want to venture out. I would love to be an extra pair of hands.
