Angel Kisses

"Mom, are God and Jesus the only ones in Heaven?"

This was asked of me as we were driving down the road the other day. Oh dear. Where is she headed with this one?

"Well," (explaining this to a 5 year old is not that easy!). "Jesus is in Heaven with angels and other people that have died that believe in Jesus - like Pepaw and Mammaw" (my grandfather and her name-sake and my great grandmother - both of whom we talk about often. )

Whew I made it out of that one with not many complications!

But wait... a little further down the road...

"Mom, if angels are in Heaven - do you think they'll give me more angel kisses when I get there? I just don't have very many and you have alot!"

I had to do all I could to maintain a straight face and understand her seriousness in these questions! The angel kisses she is referring to are my freckles! Oh, if only I had that child-like faith and truly felt they were kisses from angels! I did tell her that she may magically receive some special angel kisses as she grows (and plays outside)... afterall - she is my daughter - and I didn't ALWAYS have this many "angel kisses!"
