This is the Way we Go to School

In less than one week, the new school year will begin for the kids. Preparations have been done, and now the anticipation has set into all of our stomachs as we wait the finals days before the morning of Monday, August, 23rd.

For this school ager... she is ready. "A little nervous," but ready. Her favorite things about school include recess, lunch, and library! Here is an appropriate picture of her hanging from the monkey bars... since recess is her favorite!

This preschooler (no longer toddler!) is about to enter a new world... PRESCHOOL! I imagine the first day will be teary, but so far he is geared up and ready for school with Maggie! He's been talking about it without reservation! His favorite thing about school is that he likes to play play-dough!

This sweet child of mine will be doing things a little different. After many assessments (which we still don't know the results of) at TCH, pursuing testing for PPCD (Preschool Program for Children with Disabilities) as recommended by his neurological pediatrician, and worrying about it all summer we have placement for Whit! He did qualify for PPCD, but primarily due to transportation issues we have opted not to place him in PPCD.

Eagle Heights (the private school where Maggie and Chap will attend), has specific rules about potty training and PK-3. I wrestled in my mind all summer about pursuing and requesting a "bend in the rules" for Whit. However, I have decided not to do that for several reasons. For one, I'm not that kind of person (and we wonder where Maggie gets it!?). For two, I really don't want to be upset with the school when they turn us down - because it has been wonderful for Maggie, and I expect the same for the boys in the future! For three, it's just not me (not to say that I won't go to battle for my kids... I'll just pick my battles.)

All of that to say this... we have found a wonderful lady that keeps children in her home. Whit will be the 6th child she has. We have visited her, and Whit loves her! He likes the babies and the "bee ride" (a ride-on toy that is shaped like a bee).

It will be different to have the boys placed in different locations and places, but both are excited about their respective placements!

Ready or not.... here they come!!!!
